I'm so sorry that the coupon expired on 1/29. I went to Etsy and extended it, so it's good through 2/7! Use VALKAL2020 to get 25% off any of Wylde & Plumb's knit or crochet patterns on Etsy. (If you see a pattern here on the website that isn't listed on Etsy just give me a holler and I'll list it for you!) Here's the link if you want to jump on over there! https://www.etsy.com/shop/WyldeandPlumb?coupon=VALKAL2020
Thanks for the discount! But I can’t get it to work?! It says it’s invalid?
Almost forgot! I meant to give you all a coupon code for 25% off any Wylde & Plumb pattern that's in our Etsy store. Code is VALKAL2020, and it's good though January 29.

Sorry I forgot to give that out sooner! Thanks again for participating!
AND THE FINAL WINNER IS...
Pam (mentortchr)!!!
Congratulations, and please choose any pattern you'd like from the KNIT Patterns or CROCHET Pattern pages in the menu above.
Again, I'm so sorry to be late on this announcement. I made dinner for the family, ate dinner, cleaned up from dinner, then flopped down in my chair and started working on another washcloth and completely forgot to come back to my computer last night.
I had so much fun with you all, and I'll look forward to future KALs and CALs! If you're able, I hope you'll join in with the Speed VAL-CAL on February 1st (see a post about it back on the Project-A-Longs page), and I'm looking at more later in February. Feel free to make suggestions if you see a pattern you'd like to do a KAL or CAL for! Enjoy the rest of your January!
I'm so sorry I didn't do the winner last night! And I'm away from my computer until this afternoon, but I'll do the drawing and announcement as soon as I'm home today! Big apologies for my mistake, all! 😬😥
Love the yarn in that washcloth. Great choice!
I made a Ravelry page and posted on Instagram and Facebook. I also made a Linen Stitch Washcloth! I made a Ravelry page for it.
MONDAY, JANUARY 27, 2020: LAST DAY of KAL!
Good morning, all!
I love seeing your finished bags. Today I'll give an entry into the final day's prize drawing for everyone who has a finished bag (a picture on any day is okay, it doesn't have to be today), for anyone who makes a Project Page on Ravelry (I see Carla and mentortchr already did one-- thanks!), and anyone who shows me a screenshot or link to where you talked about the KAL and/or Wylde & Plumb on your own social media (one entry per person, even if you do it multiple places-- I appreciate the marketing help, but I can't keep up with too many links and photos!). I'll announce the winner this evening, after 5:00 (so get your entries in by 5:00 to make sure you don't miss out!).
This has been a fun week! I think we'll go ahead and do the Filet Crochet Tea Bag Bag as a speed CAL on February 1, so go comment on that post if you haven't yet and you want to join. Looking forward to more projects together!
I love you bag! The beads are so cute!
Well done! Love the beads!
I posted this earlier today. I don’t
see it so I’m reposting. Apologies if it turns out to be duplicated.
Never mind! I see the sideways pic.
put up a picture and it went sideways again,. I tried to edit it and now I can’t find it. Can anyone see my yellow finished
I would like the pattern for the Fingertipless gloves. Thank you!
@nicoleb I might've figured out what was happening with your pictures posting separately from your text! I just wrote the prize announcement for today, then tried to attach a picture at the end. When the picture attached it totally deleted all the text I wrote! Next time I'm going to try adding the photo first, then writing the text.
WINNER for SATURDAY, JANUARY 25 is...
Carla again!
It looks like only two people posted their finished bags yesterday (mentortchr, I hope you feel better and can finish today!) so I had my daughter choose right hand or left hand, with a name in each of my hands. Carla won!
Today's prize is a pattern, so Carla please see if there are any knit or crochet patterns you would like.
Today is also a break day, but tomorrow I'll just ask for folks to post about the KAL on social media (and provide a screenshot here) and/or make a Ravelry project page (I still have to put the pattern on Rav-- will do that today!). Even if you didn't finish, you can still post about what you did, and it will count! We'll even count photos of Linen Stitch Washcloths and/or shout-outs inviting friends to Like Wylde & Plumb on Facebook and/or join here at the website. Thanks so much! Have a great Sunday!
Got up Saturday morning with great intentions. Then, WHAM! Migraine that put me down for most of the day. My plan is to spend this afternoon (Sunday) stitching together. Hopefully, I’ll be caught up tonight.
I finished my bag. I made it Sugar and Cream yarn with size 9 needles. The finished size is 4 1/2 by 5 3/4 inches.
We are at a funeral now, on the way to the cemetery. I posted that far away pic of the ‘back’ because it looks like a 5 year old did it. I’m mortified by it. Please do not look closely. That stitch is not my friend🙄
Where do we post a project page? Ravelry is the only place I have ever made a project page and I don’t think that is where you want it. I could put a picture on Facebook and Instagram.
I would love the knitting is therapy marker. It is perfect for me! I dislocated my elbow in December and the doctor told me yesterday that knitting and crocheting will help the ligaments in my arm heal!
SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 2020: Sew your bag together!
The front and back fit into the strap, and I stitched them together by stitching just behind the slip-stitched knit columns at the edges of the pieces. That makes those knit columns stand out a little bit on the corners and give it almost a piping-like edge. Just be careful to make sure that the front and back fit symmetrically into the strap.
Can't wait to see your finished bags!
We'll have another break day for Sunday tomorrow, and on Monday will be our last day. Would love if you could make project pages on Ravelry and/or post about your bag in any knitting groups you're in. I'll post a link to the Ravelry project page on Monday!
WINNER for FRIDAY, JANUARY 24 is...
Carla!
Congratulations! I know you already have at least one Magnetic Bookmark/Line Keeper, so if you're not interested in another I totally understand! Feel free to pick a pattern instead, or if you see something in the PAPER Brilliants section that you like let me know!
Thanks to everyone for keeping up with the KAL and for all the beautiful work you're doing!
Here is the back of my bag!
Why am I in here twice?!
Worst than a rookie!
RE PICTURES:
I love seeing all your pictures! When you select a picture to add you should get a toolbar associated with the picture. It looks like this:
You can change the size and position of your picture via the toolbar. The first icon (on the far left) leaves it exactly as it is. The second one makes it smaller. The three icons in the middle move it left, right, or center.
Hope everyone's having a great Friday!
Who wouldn’t need more than one of these⁉️ I love them! Here’s my back
FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2020: Make the bag's back.
If you successfully finished the front, the back is a breeze! It's exactly the same as the front, but without a pocket. Post pictures here and tomorrow morning I'll announce today's winner of a Magnetic Bookmark & Pattern Marker! (If you already have one and don't need another, we can talk about a different prize!)
https://www.etsy.com/listing/614251654/magnetic-bookmark-pattern-marker
Thank you! You haven't lost me! Just need some practice.
I hate to be a quitter y'all but I have tried all week to master the Linen stitch and I'm just not getting there. I guess my crochet skills have taken over any knitting skills I might have had. I loved the pattern and the KAL but Its just not working for me. I started the washcloths for practice and they are coming out much better. So onward and upward. Enjoy everyone! Happy Valentines Day!
Wow!! Thank you!! Score!!
Congrats, Peg! 💃🏽
WINNER for WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22 is...
Peg! Congratulations, Peg! Wednesday's prize is a download of any book from Maria Keffler's (of Wylde & Plumb) bookshelf! Please take a look at the books on her Amazon page and let us know which one you'd like. The download will come from Smashwords.com, however, since Amazon doesn't allow free coupons (greedy buggers).
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=maria+keffler&ref=nb_sb_noss Congratulations, Peg, and we hope you enjoy whatever book you choose! NO POSTS for TODAY, as today (Thursday, January 23) will be a catch-up/break day. Feel free to post any pictures, questions, or other stuff here, and we'll pick up the KAL on Friday!
Front panel completed! My first inset pocket, and it was surprisingly easy! I’ll be doing these pockets often
I had to make s second body part for the pocket, since I cannot read 🙄 And is still managed to add the pocket to the wrong side, lol,... blame it on hubby talking for hours since coming home after two weeks 🤣🙈 I think I’ll make another strap in this yarn, I should have enough. And later make a second bag, I might have enough of the ‘not grey’ yarn after all 🤣
Pretty yellow 💛
Finished with the front, I have some wonky parts, but there‘s a learning curve!
I think it would be cute.
I finished the front. My bag is 4 1/4” x 6” since I used Sugar and Cream. I love the inset pocket. I want to make a smaller one now!
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2020:
Finish up the FRONT of the bag and show us a picture! The front has the inset pocket. It looks complicated and scary if you've never set in a pocket before, but IT IS NOT. When you get to where you want the top (opening) of the pocket to be you'll simply work three stitches, then bind off 16 stitches, then work three stitches. On the next row (wrong side) you'll work three stitches, then lay the pocket inset you made and kept on a holder against your work and knit across (in Linen Stitch) the 16 sts of the pocket, then finish the last three stitches of that row.
Voila! You've set in a pocket! Whenever you're ready you can whip stitch the other three sides of the pocket to the back (wrong side) of the front panel. The pattern instructions tell you to do that at the end, during the finishing, but I usually can't wait-- I want to see my pocket completely finished! Tomorrow will be a break/catch-up day, so if you've gotten behind you can work tomorrow-- no posts/prizes for Thursday. But I'll announce today's prize winner tomorrow morning after everyone's had a chance to post their front panel pictures.
Enjoy your Wednesday!
WINNER for TUESDAY, JANUARY 21 is... Nicole!
Woot woot! Pick out a pattern you like from the KNIT Patterns or CROCHET Patterns (see the menu options above) and let me know what you like! Thanks so much for participating, Nic!
Going to be a nice bag! 😍
Love the yarn! Great job! ❤
I’m using a slightly bigger yarn (Crafter’s Secret and Sugar ‘n Cream). Do you think I should add a few inches to my strap? My pocket insert is measuring 3“ wide instead of 2”.
That will be a cute bag!
It seems like the strap takes forever to knit!
That was a long 20 inches!
I finished the strap! I have some loose stitches on the sides. I’m not sure what I did.
I would love the desert sunset cowl crochet pattern. Thank you so much!
Switching the color for my bag body, since my grey turned out to actually be purple. For the love of daylight 🤣
Ah! I’m on the app now! So much easier once you get the hang of it 🤣
Here’s mine. Will leave the stitches on a holder, i at make the strap longer :)
TUESDAY, JANUARY 21: KAL DAY 2
Show us your finished strap today!
TODAY'S WINNER (Jan. 20) of a FREE PATTERN from Wylde & Plumb is... @Connie Smith ! Connie, please take a look at the KNIT Patterns or CROCHET Patterns pages (from the top menu of the website, above) and let me know which one you'd like! I'm going to be substituting in my daughter's class today so I won't be able to check in here till lunch time, and then again after 4:00. So if you don't hear back from me right away, don't worry! I'll be back!
Woops here is my yarn
Connie from colorado / her is my yarn!
Thanks, I’ll try that!
I didn’t anticipate having a question so soon, help!
I did the cast on. In the instructions it said: a single purl stitch at both ends of the WS. (Cool!)
Then;
Row 1) WS sl 1 to p (Cool!)
which for I do for the first stitch, slip or purl?
Good morning, I’m Peg from a Chicago suburb. Yarn from stash, ball band MIA 🙄
Can we cast on?
I am a retired teacher in West Virginia. I like to knit and crochet. I also enjoy quilting and basket weaving. I am using this pink cotton bag. My bag will be larger because I am using size 7 needles. I plan on making a small bag later.
It’s 7 AM here on the Gulf Coast and I just discovered this knitting along. I’ll have to search my stash or make a quick run to Hobby Lobby (which is the only craft store nearby). I’ll post my yarn later in the day. Thank you for this fun opportunity.
Looks like fun.
MONDAY, JANUARY 20: KAL DAY 1
Please introduce yourself any show us a picture of the yarn you've chosen for the project. Today's prize winner may choose a free pattern from Wylde & Plumb (knit or crochet). Winner will be announced tomorrow.
We're getting started tomorrow! If you know anyone else who would like to join, please send them a link to this KAL. I'm doing some Linen Stitch washcloths today to get ready, brushing up my Linen Stitch!
