SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2020: Final Day!
Your hats look so great! Is anyone planning to do a pom? I think I'm going to leave mine without. I soaked it in a conditioner bath yesterday and it's still lying flat to dry on my blocking board. I like it how it is, and I think it could be worn by a man if I leave the pom off.
Our final prize, selected by Wheel Decide goes to...
CONNIE! @cms9845 please take a look at the KNIT Patterns and CROCHET Patterns tabs above and pick a pattern you'd like to have.
Thanks so much to all for participating! If I could ask for one favor, it would be great if you'd have time to post a photo of your finished product, along with the link to the pattern, in any knitting groups you're a part of. Word of mouth is the very best advertising, and I'm grateful for your help in sharing this pattern, if you liked it.
Next month we're doing another KAL with t2Rs and t2Ls, the Autumn Lattice Kitchen Set (October 3-10):
Also, please be aware that every time Wylde & Plumb releases a new pattern, Wylde & Plumb members (here at the website) can download it FREE for the first 24 hours via the Member Specials page (under the More tab above). I send out an email when I release it, letting friends know that it's there to grab.
Hope you had fun this week, and I hope you'll join us (and invite some friends to join in) for the October Autumn Lattice Kitchen Set KAL. Have a great weekend!
Maria
My hat is finished!
Sorry if this is a duplicate post, but now I don’t see what I thought I had posted yesterday☹️
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2020: Pom Day!
Okay, I'm awfully fascinated by this GIF. Wow.
How's everyone coming? I finished mine up last night. I'm pleased with the size and the look, but it is SCRATCHY WOOL. I'm hoping my hair conditioner bath will do the trick. I'm torn about whether I want a pom or not. I've got enough yarn left to make one, and I think I have a faux fur pom from The Firefly Hook that will work. What do you all think?
Tomorrow we'll show each other our finished products, and I'll have a prize drawn from everyone who's participated this week!
Have a great day!
I am working on the decrease rounds. I will finish the hat tomorrow.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2020: Finish up the hat!
Today's the day to finish up the hat. Tomorrow we'll do the pom (if you're using a pom) and post our finished photos on Saturday!
I didn't work on my hat at ALL yesterday, because I was running all day. But I will get back on track today! I'm trying to decide if I'll use a yarn pom or a faux fur pom. I'm not sure I'll have enough of the yarn from the hat to make a pom, so I may have to use a contrasting yarn. We'll see!
Hope everyone is having a good week!
Ready to start decreasing tomorrow😊
I am a little past finishing up the hat body to match the cuff.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2020: Get the hat body equal to the cuff length.
Happy Wednesday, knitters!
Today we'll try to get to where the hat body is as long as the cuff. I suspect many of us are already there. There is no penalty for being ahead or behind, so just work as much as you want to! Here's what I have so far:
I'm really hoping that soaking it in a wash with some hair conditioner will soften it up, because it is coarse and scratchy. Ugh.
Hope everyone's doing well. Check in when you have a second!
Maria
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2020: Turn & Start Hat Body
Good morning! Today we'll work the turn, where the cuff will turn up, and then start on the hat body.
The turn can be a little tricky, but follow the instructions carefully and you shouldn't have any trouble. You'll wrap the first stitch of the round (to prevent a hole forming), then turn your knitting and start working the opposite direction. You'll either end up working on the far side of the hat (instead of having the working stitches nearest you in the "circle") or you'll push the cuff inside out so the wrong side is facing you as you work. Either one of those will accomplish your ends.
Today one of my kids has in-person classes at the homeschool teaching service where she attends on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I teach an English class there later this morning, so I'll be out of pocket till later this afternoon. I'll check back in when I get home to see how everyone's doing.
Have a great morning!
I like your yarn choice for the hat.
Cuff is complete!
I am moving along n my hat. I really like the cables.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2020: Finish the Cuff
Wow! It looks like I may have paced this one too slow, since I see so many pictures of finished cuffs already! But hey, if you're knocking this one out of the park, more power to you!
I re-started my hat with the correct needle size. My husband got a good laugh out of me not even reading my own pattern carefully enough to get it right. But in my defense we were just starting a family movie when I realized that I only printed out the instruction page, and not the materials page of the pattern. So I guessed at the needle size and got it wrong. My hat is a much better size now!
Let's have a prize today! Everyone who commented over the weekend has been logged into WheelDecide.com, and today's winner of a free Wylde & Plumb pattern is...
@l.philips !!! Please check out the KNIT Patterns and CROCHET Patterns tabs above and select a pattern you'd like to have. Congratulations, and thanks for joining in the KAL!
Hope everyone is having a good day so far!

Coming along....fun pattern to work.
After looking at the pattern specs, I’m changing to a dk weight...and off I go...
Hi again
im using a plain colour to highlight the cables, and just about to cast on. (Oh, I guess I’ll hav3 to get the pattern downloaded too🙃)
I see I input my email incorrectly...how do I correct that?
I live in Ontario, Canada, am retired and knit mostly shawls for donation to bereavement support groups. Also knit hats and neck warmers (which have to be wool) for FAR north communities, so this hat will probably go there.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2020: Cast On & Start Cuff
Time to really get this project going! Cast on your 90 sts and start that cuff!
I got through the cuff and started on the hat body yesterday, but I tore it all out again. I'd grabbed my size 8 needles instead of my size 5's, and the hat was enormous, loose, and unappealing. I thought maybe I'd felt it, since I'm using 100% wool, but in the end I decided to just start over. So I'm casting on (again) today too.
Here's how mine looked before I took it out:
Win some, lose some! (I need to pay more attention to the details, clearly.)
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
The yarn is really pretty!
