This should be a fun one, if you don't mind another Linen Stitch project! You only have to do the RS of the pattern though, because the Irish Coffee Gift Bag is worked in the round!
Schedule:
February 28: Pattern will go up here as a FREE download for participants.
March 1: Introduce yourself and show us your yarn!
March 2: Cast on and get through Round 7.
March 3: Make it to 5".
March 4: Break/Catch-Up Day.
March 5: Make it to the Eyelet Round.
March 6: Finish the Bag.
March 7: Post photos and Project Pages.

Materials:
About 60-70 yards EACH of two colors worsted weight yarn. Pictured is brown (in cotton) and mint green (in tencel). You'll also need a 16" circular needle, size 5 or so, or dpns long enough to hold about 20 stitches each. (You can use lighter or heavier yarn and larger or smaller needles as you like; you'll just end up with a larger or smaller bag.)
We'll have a prize drawing for everyone who participates each day. Prizes will include free patterns from Wylde & Plumb, free book downloads, and Magnet Bookmark/Linekeepers.
Comment below to let us know you're going to join in! The luck o' the Irish to you!
My poor bag is still parked on some different needles. #needtofinishoneday
I would like the gift card holders if you have a set. I will pick a pattern if you don’t have any.
Good morning, all!
Did you move your clocks forward? I hope you're not late to anything today!
Carla, congratulations on finishing your bag! Since I know you already have more than one magnetic bookmark, is there anything else you might like to have instead? You name your prize for finishing your bag!
Hope you'll all have a relaxing finish to your weekend, and if you're behind on your bag but still want to finish don't hesitate to ask here, or in the chats, if you have any troubles.
Hope you'll be able to join in with the Exfoliator KAL on March 23!
I posted on Ravelry, Facebook, and Instagram.

I finished my bag! That was a lot of knitting
for one week. I’m sure that I will not be able to knit a double knitting dish cloth in one week.
They should get to you fairly quickly, since you're just a state over.
SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 2020: Last Day!
Goodness, everyone's falling like flies! Sounds like it's been a tough week for a lot of people. I'm sorry if you're struggling with life, sickness, stress, or whatever is taking you down.
Carla, yours is the only picture yesterday, so would you like to pick out another greeting card as a prize? I have not mailed out your and Nic's cards yet, but will try to get them out before the mailman comes today. If I miss him, it'll be first thing Monday! Tonight before I go to bed (10:00ish EST) I'll post the winner of the Magnetic Bookmark from everyone who posts today. You don't have to be finished, just post a photo of where you are by the end of the day.
And don't forget! Tomorrow starts Daylight Savings Time, unless you're in Arizona or Hawaii. Have a happy Saturday!
I have had a strange week and ended up being sick. I am so behind on this KAL and don’t see that I will be ale to finish in any timely manner.
I will be able to finish my bag tomorrow. I am almost to the eyelet row. It has been a hectic week.
FRIDAY, MARCH 2, 2020: Finish Up the Bag!
Good morning knitters! It's fun to see your bags getting near the end. I hope no one had any trouble with the eyelets yesterday? Or if you're not there yet, no worries!
Yesterday's winner was...
Kasandra!
Please choose a pattern from the KNIT Patterns or CROCHET Patterns menu above!
We're getting close! Hope everyone's enjoying the project! (Or whatever project you're working on!)
This just happened. I think a Purl was busy. She looks so innocent. in the top picture she is helping me with physical therapy.
I’ll have to finish this later. Need the cable and needles to make two beanies for hubby and a work partner of his 🙄
I made it to 7 inches today. It has been a hectic couple of days.
Ok. Finished up this morning! Katelyn was buzzing around, while I was reading the directions for the cord, which left me thinking WTF? Katelyn was the only one around, and and not quite 3.5 years, although I love her to bits, I really couldn’t „trust“ her to even try this. Therefore, I just grabbed my trusty size 3 dpns and made a two stitch I-cord, and called it a day.
Love it!
THURSDAY, MARCH 5, 2020: Eyelet Round
Today is the day we take on the eyelet round. This might be the most challenging part of the bag, but once you get it it will make sense. You're repeating every 6 sts, so you have 5 sts followed by a yarn-over eyelet. You actually have to slip two sts in a row at one point during the repeat:
[(k1, wyf sl 1 to p)2xs, skpo, yo]
So you: knit, slip, knit, slip, then (slip, knit, pass slipped stitch over), then yo.
The holes will be nearly invisible, but they are there. When you make your rope for the drawstring you'll have to feel with your fingers a bit to find the holes to slip it through.
Let us know if you have any trouble!
9” achieved. Starting eyelets now and hope to bind off tonight leaving finishing for tomorrow.
I do like the way the cotton is interfacing with the acrylic. I’m using LionBrandBasic Stitch which comes in 3oz. Skein which is nice for small project. The coral rose is old faithful Sugar’n Cream.
Well, this catch up day is needed but despair of making it to 9”. Too many irons in the fire this week.
Yes, and medicinal teas like ‘breath easy, work good to either drink or use in the steam method.
I’d love this one, please 💕 https://wyldeandplumb.wixsite.com/wyldeandplumb/copy-of-sample-sale?lightbox=dataItem-k4n71ofl1
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 2020: BREAK DAY!
Today is our catch-up, take a break, take a deep breath, clean your house (ha ha, only kidding) day! If you're a little behind, you can get caught up. If you're on track, go ahead and get ahead, or just kick back.
Yesterday's prizewinner is...
Nicole! I know we didn't get a picture from you yesterday, but that's Wix's fault and not yours, I'm certain. Maybe try again today? For your prize, would you also like to choose a greeting card from the PAPER Brilliants section? Scroll down to it, or click the Greeting Card link at the top of that section to see them.
I have a day off of life today too! (Sort of.) But sadly it seems like a cold has taken hold. No fever, so it's not Coronavirus! But I'm glad to be able to stay home all day and recuperate. I may try another apple cider vinegar/honey shot, since that seemed to work a couple of days ago. Any other remedies for a stuffy nose and itchy throat you can suggest?
I finished about four inches. I am making progress. I like it better than the one I made with cotton. I figured out this moruing I knit my last washcloth
with one size 6 and one size 7 needle.
making good progress. :)
Sigh,... I guess I can’t post pics right now⁉️ No new updates for the app 😳😣
I posted my progress yesterday, but now I don’t see it? What happened? Here it is again.
TUESDAY, MARCH 3: Work up to 5" of the bag if you're able.
Good morning, knitters! Hope everyone's cast-on went well yesterday. (See the GIF above? Get it, casting? Tee Hee!) Monday's winner is... Carla! Woot! Congratulations! For a prize, please pick a card (doing something different this time!) from the PAPER Brilliants section above. (Scroll down or use the Menu to get to the greeting cards.) Hope you can find something you like!
Today is my daughters' community day at homeschool, so I'll be in class with my youngest, but I'll try to check in here as often as I can today. Have a great day, and hope your bags are starting to shape up!
OK, making a fresh start after my shopping trip today. Not sure which pair I’ll start with. Will get caught up tomorrow.
I changed my yarn. My friend gave me her stash when she moved to assisted living. Kasie my yarn might be about the same age as your yarn.
MONDAY, MARCH 2, 2020: CAST-ON!
Today we'll get started with casting on our bags and getting the first couple of rows done.
Cast on with any method you like. I typically prefer the long-tail method, but whatever makes you happy will work just fine.
Remember that this bag is worked in Linen Stitch, but as it's done in the round you'll ONLY WORK RS Rows! No WS rows at all! Woot! Having an odd number of stitches may seem strange for Linen Stitch, but it's what keeps you in pattern, so you just work in a spiral and never have to break the k1, sl 1 pattern. You'll barely be able to see the "seam" where you go from one row to the next.
It looks like our roll call so far is:
Kasandra Melrod
Nicole
Carla
& Pam
Winner from yesterday's drawing is...
PAM! Congrats, and please choose a pattern from the KNIT Patterns or CROCHET Patterns menus above!
And... Cast on!
Hello All! My name is Pam. I live in Gulf Shores, AL, and, yes, it’s true — if you’re lucky enough to live at the beach, you’re lucky enough. I’m a retired elementary teacher and principal. My days are as busy as ever. Besides knitting, I paint a little, exercise with Zumba and yoga, and ride my bike. And (yuk) all that pesky cooking and cleaning stuff, too.
I found stashed yarns I changed my mind about for another project. Looking forward to starting!
I really like the hand dyed Wool Ease. I think I am going to resist ordering this time.
I made an experimental start this evening and realized the yarn I chose from my stash is just not the right weight. Hopefully I’ll do some shopping tomorrow but I’ll be delayed in getting started. Not a big fan of circular needles so may switch to my trusty DPs
If anyone is interested Lion Brand is having Five for Ten sale on some nice yarn.

I'm still learning to knit!
Hi, glad to be joining another KAL. Starting out with yarn on hand, two long gradient colorways. Working hard to finish up socks today before I actually start one more project. Nice to see how linen stitch will work up in the round. Goood wishes to all the knitters!
I‘m Kasandra. WV transplant to Central Pa, but I‘ve lived and knitted all over.
I‘ve recently inherited a bunch of stash yarn and and a couple WIPs from my Grandma Shay who passed....wait for it...in 1988. My mother has a stash so big she could start a store (If you don’t believe me, ask Carla.) and recently started cleaning out her house with an eye toward downsizing and these items were dumped - I mean gently placed - in my lap. Kinda cool to be finishing an Afghan started so long ago, but I digress. These two partial skeins of really old worsted acrylic came from Grandma to me (from the wrappers it looks like they were produced in the 50s or 60s and yes, that is a Murphy‘s sticker). The Blue and Gold will appeal to all my WVU friends.
SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2020: LET THE KAL BEGIN!
Today please introduce yourself and show us what yarn you'll be using for the KAL.
FEBRUARY 28, 2020: Get the Pattern!
Download the pattern for the Irish Coffee Gift Bag, grab your yarn (2 colors worsted weight, about 70 yards each), and get ready to start the Knit-Along on Sunday, March 1! It would be fun to have a few more people on board, so please invite any knitting friends you know to join in! Have a great Friday, friends!
[3/8/2020: PATTERN HAS BEEN REMOVED]
I'm in!
Yay! Happy to see people jumping in! Carla, you're an overachiever! Love your bag!
Count me in. Sounds like a great idea!!
I am going to start one. I might not finish it. I have already made one. It is a fun pattern.
l want to participate. I may not be able to complete it in within the week (due to a family obligation), but I’ll sure try!
This is my first bag!
Will love to have a
So cute ❤
I am going to make a bag.
