Who's in the mood for a fast and speedy one-day Crochet A-Long?
These bags are so cute for Valentine's Day. (And just look at that little heart at the top of the strap!) I made about a dozen of them last year and they went like hotcakes. I put a Numi Puerah Chocolate Tea Bag and a square of Ghiradelli chocolate in each one and gave them to my beloved friends.
They work up super fast in crochet thread, or any fine yarn. The pattern isn't currently available to purchase, but I'll make it a free download here for the CAL.
Here's the schedule:
FRIDAY, JANUARY 31: Pattern will be a free download right here.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1: SPEED CAL! For each Filet Crochet Tea Bag Bag you make you'll be entered for a prize (a free knit or crochet pattern from Wylde & Plumb), AND we'll have a prize for the person who makes the most bags and posts their pictures here in the comments.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2: WINNERS ANNOUNCED
MATERIALS: To make the bag you just need some No. 10 crochet thread (or any kind of fine yarn) and a size D (3.25mm) crochet hook.
Who's in?
I would love the peace fields scarf pattern also. Thand you so much!
I'm not ready to put a photo out in public yet, but I finished the Irish Coffee Bag tonight! It's about 8" wide by 10" deep. I'll write up the pattern for the St. Patrick's Day KAL!
Thank you so much! I would like your Peace Fields Scrapghan.
Congratulations 💕💕💕 Looking forward to that bag❣️
Good morning! And happy palindrome day! Today, February 2, 2020, is the first time the date has been a palindrome in 900 years (or so I read on Facebook): 02/02/2020. And now to announce the winners of the One-Day Speed VALCAL! For most bags made, the far-and-away leader of the pack, with SEVEN BAGS is...
Kelle!
Congratulations, you crocheting whirlwind! Please pick either a pattern from Wylde & Plumb's Knit or Crochet patterns, or a bookmark from our Etsy shop!

And everyone who participated was entered into a drawing for a free pattern. The winner is...
Connie!
Thank you so much, everyone! I am having so much fun with y'all (I'm not southern, but I really like that word.) Hope you'll jump on board the Linen Stitch Washcloths KAL which starts February 16! Hop back to the Projects Page to see that post. And I'm working on a new pattern right now. I'll give you a little sneak peak...
This is going to be an Irish Coffee Bag, for St. Patrick's Day! It will be a drawstring bag into which you can put the ingredients for Irish Coffee (or if you're not a fan of Bailey's Irish Cream, you can throw in some Andes Mints instead!) and give to your favorite Irishman or woman on March 17! I'm planning to host another KAL here around the end of February to do this bag. It's Linen Stitch again, but worked in the round, so you never have to do the reverse side!
Hope you all have a glorious Groundhog Day!
Wow! Kelly you were really busy!!
My goal was eight to go with my eight Valentines but I'm tired. I'm in Texas right now and it's 10:36. I'll do my last one in the morning.
I'm on my way to bed, but I'll pop in tomorrow morning announce winners!
Not gonna make it past one cuz grand daughter had a ballet concert - it was so fun and everyone’s is beautiful!!!
I am finished.
Midnight in what time zone? Lol
So far Nicole and Carla are neck-and-neck, each with two bags made. Will anyone get up to three? I need photos by midnight so I can award prizes in the morning!
(P.S. Nic! I figured out how to keep your photos from deleting your text! Return a couple of times and put the picture on a line that doesn't have text with it yet.)
My 2 bags together. I like the larger one for gift cards.
Now it’s been blocked looks much better but photo came out purple🤣
Slst in what same place?
And my second. Need to work on a shawl now, but have some ideas for a bigger one 😀
And my second. Need to work on a shawl now, but have some ideas for a bigger one 😀
Here is my first tea bag holder
I finished bag 2x
Do I attach to the other side with a slst?
I was confused about the "wrap working thread around the base of the heart..."
My slip sts made a hole and my heart seems sideways.
Does my heart look right?
That's fabulous! ♥️
App works ok on the itty bits I tried on my ‘blog’ thingy. Def works ok here for the notifications. Better than it did in the browser. Ugh! 🤣
I've got one ready for the blocking mat too!
I finished one! It is a little big, a gift card fits in it. I can’t get my picture to rotate.
Sorry to be slow. Chrome keeps crashing my computer this morning! I've had to hard restart twice. I'm working from my phone now, which isn't quite as friendly.
Where does my next stitch go?
Hard to tell what size that is. But the nice thing about the bag pattern is that it will just be a little bigger or smaller if you use thicker or thinner yarn.
Carla is out of the gate!
I am ready to start. I’m not sure what the weight of this crochet thread is because the label is long gone. My picture is sideways.i can’t get it to flip around.
Here's my start.
If you've never done a foundation double crochet, there's a great 6-minute video tutorial right here: https://youtu.be/8pkADI3QI6M
You can do a traditional chain foundation for this piece and it won't matter at all, but the foundation sc or dc or tr is crocheting WIZARDRY, and it's a great skill to have in your arsenal. You'll love it, and it's not nearly as complicated as you might think.
AND... LAUNCH ONE-DAY SPEED VALCAL!
I'm working with No. 10 crochet thread from Stitch Studio By Nicole (one of the last purchases I'll ever make at my closing A.C. Moore store. Sniffle.) Today's CAL will run till midnight EST, and tomorrow morning I'll post the winners: 1. Everyone who plays today gets entered in a drawing for a free pattern from Wylde & Plumb, no matter how many bags they make.
2. Whoever posts a photo of the most bags made today will win either a free pattern or a Magnetic Bookmark/Line Marker of their choice.
On your mark... get set... GO!
Thank you ❣️
Is it February yet⁉️🤪💕
As everyone chooses their yarn/thread for this one, I'll encourage using crochet thread or very fine mercerized cotton if you have it. These look so crisp and elegant after they're blocked, and the crochet cotton gives them a really nice structure that a softer yarn won't yield. Here's a photo of one I did in a sock-weight merino. It's nice, but I don't like it quite as well as I do the No. 10 cotton bags.
Yay!
II’m in!
I‘m in!
I’m taking crochet classes in February, have fun with this one!
I’ve never crocheted, so I won’t try this one. Y’all have fun.
Oh yes! 💕
Yes, I've been wanting to make these!
