My daughter is off to college for her junior year, after a summer spent at home working three jobs to save money. She's in a new house with new roommates, and asked if I could bring her a couple of trivets when I come to visit next weekend. (I'm not a hovering, helicopter mom -- I have a doctor's appointment at her university's hospital.) So I worked up a set of these 7-Sided Heptagon Trivets.

They're super easy: just two chains to start, followed by 12 rounds of sc. You make two, then whipstitch them together. If you really hate sewing, you can attach them with sl st or even sc, but I like how the whipstitch gives them a rope-like edge that looks the same on both sides.

When the first Trivet Side is finished, cut yarn and start the second Trivet Side.

When the second Trivet Side is finished, cut yarn leaving a tail that is about 3xs as long as the circumference (distance around) the trivet.

Thread your yarn needle and whipstitch the two Trivet Sides together.

Knot yarn, weave in all ends.
